Starting our own load board? If brokers and shippers can be enticed to come on over, why couldn't we start our own board with loads and trucks posted? Sure there would be enough of us to chip in and pay the server charges and perhaps get some advertising as well. I think a load board run by and for carriers and brokers would be beneficial and perhaps more productive than what we are all having to deal with now.
Just letting my mind wander here, although I have been told that my mind is too small to wander alone..............

I am not computer savy enough to know much about it, but i don't see why we can't 'network'...Carriers and Brokers together. Of course, my vision would be only 'good' carriers and 'good' brokers allowed...lol

Hello everyone I am new here, but I do have a comment on this thread. I am having a website built and should be ready for test runs this weekend. It will at first be for in and out of the Midwest. Right now I am calling it Truckers Co-op. I will let you know how it works out or ask me if you have any question.

well if dat wanted to expand their services 10 fold they would market toward a shipper where they could go online and post a load or get a truck but that would cut a broker out but ive never seen a board marketed to just a shipper... . You would have to have a few servers and i imagine someone would have to write the programs ,,, I can barely remember cobol or fortran.. My college days were pre windows, but we wrote in like a dos format... . I dunno ive got some top it guys going to be here this weekend to visit for the holidays ill ask??? Ive got a website but its my name .com i never used it in a few years, but i wouldnt know how to do it or tie it to this board...

maybe if people would mention this site to the brokers they use who like to send out emails of avaiable freight then they might come over and get set up with some carriers to recieve their emails of available loads. i prefer opening emails compared to going to every tom thingy and harry's website to look at their freight...takes way toooo much time.
load boards are great if you have the ability to run the searches that can reduce dead head. there are very few loads that will pay enough that you can go with them without doing searches to match up a round and then negotiating the right rate for the two loads together.
so i doubt you will get the software to manage these searches and you sure won't get the brokers who can give out a load that pays enough that you don't need to worry what's on the other end.
right now i only get emails from two brokerages. and 2 shippers.

That's a great idea, Koolaid. Maybe we can do something with that.
Keep the ideas coming. And hope you had a wonderful Christmas, full of surprises!

Is it still on? Meanwhile, carriers can post loads needed, daily in the new announcement box, in the thread, and I will put them into that box! Dean you have mail!
